We have been passionate about wines for many years. Having had the opportunity to travel and visit hundreds of boutique wineries around the world, our dream was to one day be the people standing behind the counter pouring our own wines instead of those doing the tasting.
That dream became a reality in 2000, when we purchased a 25 acre parcel in the rolling hills of Paso Robles, a major wine-growing region in Central California, which has been labeled, "the next Napa Valley." Situated a mere 25 miles from the Pacific Ocean, the area is influenced by tremendous fluctuations in the weather, where summer days regularly hit in the 100s and evenings dip down into the 40s, placing a great deal of stress on the vines, not to mention on those of us lucky enough to live here. The swing in temperature only intensifies the flavor of the grapes creating the perfect environment for big earthy reds. As such, our first ten acres have been planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Syrah, and Petite Sirah. We planted these grapes in four equal blocks, in high-density rows of 6x8 feet.
We simply want to produce limited quantities of the highest quality grapes available, to be handcrafted into our premium wines. Our dream of creating memorable wines is now a reality. We look forward to sharing these wines and memories with you.
DRINK THE DREAM.

“Everything we’ve come across from Gelfand has just been off the charts. This is definitely a property to watch…When I opened up the Zinfandel , I was absolutely blown away. This is probably one of the greatest wines I’ve ever tasted...This got 4 stars and nothing gets 4 stars from me…If I could design a Zinfandel, this would be it.”
Blog review from
the Borderless Culture Life & Style
If you are the lucky few who can get your hands on his wine, savor them because bottles are few and they run out fast.”
Review from Mark Storer (teacher, certified sommelier, and writer Wines and Vines Magazine, Wine Country This Week, and similar publications) – “…No, the fact is I still have five different bottles of Len and Jan’s wines and I’m excited by them. But, it’s just not enough. I suppose I could up my ante and get two cases per year, but even that wouldn’t satisfy me. I love these wines. I cannot think of better ones. I know my Central Coast pretty well and I’ve had just about everyone’s wines…”
Review from the Southwestern Wine Guy (Jim Hammond then awarded us as Winery of the Month for December 2009 “Gelfand Vineyads: Limited Production, Limitless Flavors) – “…
All the wines are big, mouth-filling, and loaded with fruit. Many also rate a perfect 100 HDI, that’s Hammond’s Drinkability Index. These are the kinds of wine that invite you to sit back as one sip leads to another, and then one glass leads to another.
